Adiylah Washington is the Founder and Owner of Bergen STEAM LLC. Before creating Bergen STEAM LLC, Adiylah worked as Associate Director of Extended Learning for a number of schools in New York including Montclare Children’s School, Williamsburg Northside School, and Aaron School. Today, Adiylah designs and manages After School, Summer Camp, and Vacation Camp programs at TriBeCa Community School and Portfolio School in New York City. She works tirelessly with the schools to achieve the goal of enhancing the overall educational experience.
Education
She earned a BA in Elementary Education Mathematics Concentration from North Carolina Central University and a MA in Educational Leadership from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Adiylah holds the School Business Administrator and School Principal certificates in the State of New Jersey. She completed the Bookkeeping and Accounting certificate at the New York University School of Professional Studies.
EXPERIENCE
Adiylah decided to become an educator after her first job as a Research Associate at Duke University in her hometown Durham, North Carolina. She began her teaching career at Robert Treat Academy Charter School (Blue Ribbon School) in Newark, New Jersey. After her six year tenure in Newark, Adiylah continued teaching for a ten years Englewood, New Jersey. Adiylah joined the teaching teams in specialized dual language immersion programs and the advanced placement Ivy Program in Englewood. She serves as a member of the Bergen County Youth Services Commission and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Bergen/Passaic. Adiylah resides in Northern New Jersey with her husband and their children Nina and Derrick Jr.
